Trump shared a video on his Truth Social account and wrote, “The greatest Bitcoin statement of all time.” The video shared by Trump includes Coin Center Research Director Peter Van Valkenburgh's statements about Bitcoin in his testimony to the US Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee in 2018. In the video, Valkenburgh defended Bitcoin and open blockchain networks, defending their decentralized nature, usefulness in financial innovation, and potential to promote individual freedom and privacy. “Why is Bitcoin revolutionary? Because unlike other tools for sending money over the internet, it works without the need for an intermediary,” Valkenburgh said in the video.
