Krafton, the mastermind behind the popular battle royale game PUBG: Battlegrounds, has thrown its hat into the blockchain arena with the introduction of Settlus, a groundbreaking layer 1 blockchain powered by the Cosmos SDK.
Krafton, renowned for PUBG: Battlegrounds, has pulled back the curtain on Settlus, an innovative layer 1 blockchain that leverages the capabilities of the Cosmos SDK for processing settlements with USDC (USD Coin). This revelation took center stage at the Korea Blockchain Week's Circle Hacker House event.
Jeremy Allaire, the CEO of Circle, was effusive in his praise, describing this development as "truly remarkable." He pointed out the massive user base of PUBG, with an astounding 30 million monthly active players, as a potential game-changer for this new payment and settlement ecosystem.
Settlus, designed as a layer-1 blockchain, primarily focuses on facilitating payment settlements and projects related to the metaverse. One of its standout features is the ability to pay gas fees using stablecoins, streamlining the transaction process. Content creators will also benefit from this setup, as initial payment settlements will be processed through Circle's USDC.
At the core of this innovation is the Cosmos SDK, a pivotal piece of technology that provides the framework for crafting layer-1 blockchains with seamless interoperability among other blockchains adhering to the same standards.
Adding to the Cosmos ecosystem's robustness, Circle has pioneered native USDC support through Noble. Noble is an appchain expressly designed for issuing native assets and orchestrating inter-blockchain transfers via the IBC protocol within the Cosmos network, a significant milestone achieved on September 1.
