BBVA launches Bitcoin and Ethereum trading for retail clients

Spanish bank BBVA has introduced Bitcoin and Ethereum trading with custody for retail clients. The feature is integrated into its mobile app, giving users direct access to buy, sell, and hold crypto inside the bank’s regulated environment. Custody Under Bank Control Assets are safeguarded through BBVA’s custody infrastructure, offering regulated oversight and risk controls. The bank presents this as a more secure option compared with external crypto exchanges. Limited Scope The launch is restricted to BBVA’s retail base in Spain. The bank has not announced wider expansion or support for tokens beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum.
