Ethereum Celebrates 10th Anniversary of Mainnet Launch with NFTs and Global Events

Ethereum is celebrating the tenth anniversary of its mainnet launch. The first block was generated on July 30, 2015. To celebrate the event, the Ethereum Foundation (EF) team will issue commemorative NFTs. The non-fungible tokens can be claimed until July 31. EF noted that the launch of the blockchain has opened up new possibilities for the internet. It has led to innovations in finance and programming related to property rights. “Ten years have passed, and eternity lies ahead,” the organization said . There will be over 100 events to celebrate the anniversary. The project team urged users to find an event in their city to “help Ethereum enter a new decade.” In addition, a live broadcast dedicated to the celebration will take place on July 30. During the stream, participants will recall the history of Ethereum and discuss the next decade of the project. Speakers include Vitalik Buterin, Joseph Lubin, Tim Beiko, and other developers from around the world. Ethereum's Impact and Future Outlook Since its launch, Ethereum has revolutionized the blockchain space by enabling smart contracts—self-executing contracts with the terms directly written into code. This innovation sparked the development of decentralized finance (DeFi), allowing users to access financial products without intermediaries. Ethereum also popularized the use of decentralized applications (dApps) across industries such as gaming, supply chain, and digital art. Looking ahead, the Ethereum community is focused on scalability and sustainability. The ongoing Ethereum 2.0 upgrade aims to transition the network from a Proof-of-Work (PoW) to a Proof-of-Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism, significantly reducing energy consumption and increasing transaction throughput. These enhancements are expected to support Ethereum’s growth and cement its position as a leading platform for decentralized innovation in the coming decade.
