Paul Atkins, Chairman of the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), has stated that Ethereum (ETH) is not a security. Atkins stated in his statement that, just like Bitcoin, Ethereum is not officially classified as a security by the SEC. “The SEC has unofficially stated that Ethereum is not a security. This is a similar approach to the assessment made for Bitcoin,” Atkins said, noting that the Ethereum blockchain is a fundamental building block for many digital assets.
